FAQ

Rider Requirements & Safety Guidelines

While our mountain coaster has some of the most advanced safety systems in the industry such as distance warnings systems and automatic braking, we still need your help to have the safest & most thrilling ride in Branson!

The first question most people ask are height and age requirements–while we are extremely family friendly, for rider safety we do have a few rules.

  • Is there a height requirement?

Single Drivers must be at least 52 inches tall. Double Drivers must be at least 52" tall & 16 years old.  Passengers must be at least 36 inches and 3 years old.

  • Is there a weight requirement?

Each cart can hold up to a maximum of 300 pounds total. This is verified discretely before loading and is enforced.

  • How Long is the Coaster Track?

The Runaway Mountain Coaster is the longest mountain coaster in the Midwest at over 4900 feet.  There is 1900 feet of scenic uphill track and 3000 feet of downhill thrills.

  • How long does it take to do the ride?

About 7-8 minutes in total.  Runaway Mountain Coaster is a 5 minute scenic ride to the top and a 2-3 minute thrill ride down depending on how much you use the brakes.

  • Is there an age requirement?

Single drivers must be at least 9 years old to drive.  Doubles drivers must be at least 16 years old to take a passenger and their passenger must be at least 3 years old.

  • Do you stay open in the rain?

For safety, we do close during thunderstorms and heavy rains. Expect delays on days with inclement weather.

  • What is the Maximum Speed I can go?

Our sleds can go to a Maximum Speed of about 30 mph.

  • Can someone bump into my cart?

Drivers are required to maintain control of their carts at all times by keeping at least 80 feet (dry conditions) or 180 feet (wet conditions) behind the cart in front of them at all times.

  • Do we need a reservation?

No, in fact all tickets are treated in a first come first serve manner. To save time be sure to fill out an Adventure Agreement in advance.

  • Do you take photos on the ride?

We do take photos on the ride that are available to view in purchase after the ride. You must follow all the safety rules of the ride to view your photos. Be sure to keep both hands on the handles for the duration of your ride or you may not be able to view your photos.
